futile? $200 on the spot fine for littering

30.04.10 futile? $200 on the spot fine for littering

could be this be a warning with no teeth, a bark without bite? well, what says you?

i wonder if council has ever managed to re-coup the costs of sign manufacture and erection from on-the-spot-fines imposed?

i would think not.

will this blog attract more hits if i use the word erection a few more times, like dirty erection, erection in laneway, carpark erection, erection in park, erect pole? only time will tell. i’m sure there is even the carcass of a cock in that shopping trolley.

believe me, my stats tell me very strange things about what people search for on the internet, and i consider this site to be wholesome family fun. it is a very erect pole though. you’d have to be a stiffy to think otherwise.

maybe i should try writing about wholesome family erections? just an idea…. though again, do i really want that kind of man traffic coming in here? probably not.

oh, this meal looks like it tasted of shit, but it really was awesome

29.04.10 oh, this meal looks like it tasted of shit, but it really was awesome

ok it is a fact that some foods do not photograph well.

when it came out on our table, i took a shot of this dish before anyone got stuck into it. it looked better in real life than what my 5 year old snappy point and shoot digital camera could muster.

got to get my dslr back….

anyway, the meal was at a czech restaurant in kings cross, (the “golden mile” of late, since fuckwit lebanese gangsters started being glorified in the ‘Underbelly’ TV series over here).

mmmmm, roast pork knuckle, vienna schnitzel, roast duck with caraway seeds, potato dumplings, bread dumplings, smoked pork neck, sausages, sauerkraut (white AND red/purple), a few different mustards, all washed down with dreher hungarian beer.

great meal, plenty left over for the doggy bag.

ecstasy is made in filthy labs using drain cleaner, battery acid or even hair bleach…

28.04.10 ecstasy is made in filthy labs using drain cleaner, battery acid or even hair bleach...

ecstacy production

god no! not hair bleach, the holiest of all sacraments! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

golly whiz, the ingredients of ecstasy sound  about on par with what they legally put into cigarettes….

i walked past this ATM machine a few weeks ago and it caught my eye.  desperate for a photo of the day, i sauntered on back down to get a shot today so that  could share it with you guys.

this ATM is placed right next door to Arq nightclub, a heaving gay club in Darlinghurst. i’d say that at least 70% of the money coming out of this machine is spent on booze and/or drugs.

i just wonder what the motivation behind the ‘community service announcement ‘ is…. is the ATM operator forced to display that message as a screensaver? i think so. who forces the ATM operator’s hand? state govt, feds, the cops? would be interesting to know.

i’m wondering, not taking a stand, but it is true, most pills are made in backyard labs by people that you really would not want to meet. wouldn’t it be simply smarter and easier to have the government manufacture, distribute and retail recreational drugs? the demand is there, at least it would be regulated. it would be safer for all users and it would at leat pump some money into the economy – instead of into gangster’s pockets…i’m sorry, but living so close to the action, i can tell you that scare tactics are counter-productive and do not work.

feedback and discussion would be appreciated – even if you don’t agree with me…

Crikey! here’s a little beauty…how long after his death can Steve Irwin’s estate still make money out of a crappy franchise?

27.04.10 Crikey! heres a little beauty...how long after his death can Steve Irwins estate still make money out of a crappy franchise?

i spotted this at a local shopping center today and it blew me away – for lots of reasons….

1) steve irwin was never loved in Australia as much as he was loved in usa, aussies found him to be a little bit ‘too full-on’ over here – much more suited to the american market, though i never much doubted that how he came across on tv, was actually more than probably the way he was in real life…

2) i find it incredible that he/they have made such a commodity out of bindi irwin and bob irwin- with the amount of money that steve and terri irwin made, i’m sure it was not necessary to make a circus out of the kids as well;

3) years after his death, i found it strange to have a dead fibreglass steve riding shotgun with a comic-book crocodile in my local shopping centre (that’s what we call a shopping mall, for all you yanks).

4) i just found it a little bit perverse and disrespectful, part of an international marketing and brand-identity campaign. rather an effort to remember the guy for how much money he can make for the company in the future, as opposed too just remembering and respecting the guy for what he was while still alive… i suppose he just sold himself off and was happy with that deal…

though i never met the guy, i would guess that he would have been happy with the decision to set his family up. but how much money is enough money. i reckon the irwin’s have plenty to last the next 2 generations. seems to me that they are cheapening his name for a quick, cheap and easy buck.

To get more of an idea of who he was (apart from a born showman), check these vids out. the guy was out of control…

2 dogs infront of a butcher’s window

26.05.10 2 dogs infront of a butchers window

hey, shouldn’t these little fellas be looking a little bit more excited?

maybe it’s because they are not ‘real dogs’?

so many questions.. and another one…

what is it with some women and some (predominantly gay) men who insist on CARRYING their dogs around? for fucks sake! these animals have more legs than you do and can probably run faster than you as well, what’s with it?

i think perhaps these people should really consider the idea of having a baby, as there is obviously something mixed-up going on there.

i love animals and i love dogs, but A DOG IS A DOG. i have eaten dog before and think nothing of it. a dog is not a partner, lover or a child. put your feet back on earth people.

fish caught here are unsafe to eat

22.04.10 fish caught here are unsafe to eat

that’s what the sign says…

last year, when a diver had his leg ripped off by a bull shark in sydney harbour, some clown from the nsw state government said sharks are entering the harbour in increasing numbers because government has done such a wonderful job in cleaning up the harbour, fish stocks are booming, thanks to the clean water.

that’s totally untrue (gee funny that). the reason there are more fish in the harbour is because some years back, commercial fishing was banned in the harbour because of concerns of the heavy metals found in the fish, as well as over-fishing. oh, another reason sharks are entering the harbour is because they are hungry, there just aren’t as many fish in the sea as there once were.

glebe park – it’s a top spot. the area used to be a bit of an industrial wasteland, and there are a few pockets here and there which still are. parked across the bay are berthed mega multi million dollar floating toys for the rich.

motorways can be truely ugly places

12.04.10 motorways can be truely ugly places

look at what’s going on here. lamp posts, signage, mobile phone towers, big brother cameras, posts poles, columns, those dangly things that make noise when a too-high truck passes them, concrete and galvanised steel. what you don’t see in the photo is the black dust from exhaust fumes, millions, yes i am sure, millions of cigarette butts and piles of rubbish thrown out the windows of moving (and sometimes not moving) vehicles, like it’s someone else’s problem.

when are people going to realise that when they throw their crap onto the street, rather than into a bag, that yes sure, it will be someone else’s problem, but also a problem to themselves and their families? boggles the mind it does.

P&O architecture

10.04.10 P&O architecture

i’m a big fan. this style was big in the art-deco period of architecture, specifically the mid-1930′s. at the time, it was considered daring and futuristic, with buildings designed to look like ships – hence the name P&O, it is also known as nautical-deco.

junk mail

09.04.10 junk mail

it shits me. i use a PO Box address, so never check my letterbox. i have found my letter box so stuffed full of catalogues and take-away menus, that i’ve almost needed to use a fucking crowbar to prise them out. don’t the deliverers get the hint that if a letterbox is full, they needn’t expend their energy ramming their ads in my slot – because it is pretty obvious that the snails will eat the paper before i ever get the chance to read it.

putting a ‘no junk mail’ sticker helps a bit and certainly helps you blacklist any businesses that insist on defying your request.

for info on getting a ‘no junk mail’ sticker for your letterbox, as well as some other handy tips, visit the people who organise Clean Up Australia Day. They will help you.

05.04.10 sky and concrete, oh and general holmes

somewhere along general holmes drive.

who was general holmes anyway?
i did some reading on the guy and can tell you this:
he was born in 1862 and went to paddington public school, he joined the military at 10 years of age and late went to south africa to fight the boer wars. during ww1, he overthrew german command of new guinea, was posted to gallipoli in march 1915, which he survived and then got sent to the western front in april 1916.

he was killed by german shells in july 1917 and is buried in belgium.

there you go folks, now you know who that road is named after, whether you agree with it or not.

that’s what this guys numberplate reads. i wonder why he is 2wistd? maybe he spent more on his audio system than what the car is worth? that would be pretty 2wistd. just another 2wistd evening on parramatta road. wonder if he had a 2wistd nite wit da 2wistd laydeez? what would a 2wistd guy look for in a 2wistd LAYdee i wonder? she’d have to be pretty fucking 2wistd herself to keep up with 2wistd himself, it would be pretty hard to keep up with someone so 2wistd.  stop me, i’m feeling a little bit too 2wistd.

03.04.10 do you love your take away coffees?

seems at the end of the day at paddington markets, plenty of other people do too.

what fills up this bin more than anything is take-away coffee cups and plastic drink bottles. it’s one bin, on one day, and one which is emptied regularly.

it’s a little bit of a worry what we are doing to our planet, but hey, it’s convenient isn’t it?
