are you trying to sell me christianity, or scare me away? i am confused.

i’m not so sure those in the marketing department have thought this one through properly.

after a wonderful evening out at the sprout exhibition, i met an shot this lovely man on my way home.

he is part of the night time security team at manly wharves. if you see him, give him a wave and a kind word. he’d up for a chat and is studying graphic design.

why do they look like stunned mullets?

anyway, the stunned mullet on the right, in the white shirt is barnaby. he is one half of the team shooting for sprout daily.  the other mullet is murray (not in shot). they threw an exhibition showcasing their last 6 months of work and contributing to the manly surf festival.

The Marines played at the landsdowne tonight and it was great to see them. the boys played a tight set and it was great to see them all together again. their story is like one of a long marriage – over ten years together with break-ups and reconciliations all the way. if you like the sound of pavement and radiohead, you will definitely get into the marines. check out their facebook page here.

i love it on a rainy afternoon. the sun peeks out from between the clouds and makes the pavement shines like silver.

seems that some local cat has had a bit of fun with this little fella. perhaps he should consider visiting this place for some more sport.

i woke up this morning just before 6. the first thing i noticed when i opened my eyes, was this strange coloured light coming from a gap between my blinds.

this is what i saw and it totally blew me away.

for those of you in sydney, you will know this pic has not had any photoshopping at all – and no, my camera was not set to sepia mode.

it was absolutely phenomenal. apparently it has happened because we had strong winds blowing in from the south-west. it hasn’t rained out there in months and all the ground-cover has died off – leaving behind this dust that blew into sydney.

with all that is going on infront of our very eyes, i find it incredibly hard to imagine how the minds of climate change skeptics work. wake up people – we are all in a lot of trouble!

nothing more to add, other than that i like the original tiling.

this is the pool where i learned how to swim, mahon pool. i spend almost every day after school down here and loved exploring the inter-tidal reef – which was teeming with marine life.

i brought my 2 year old daughter down here to show her what i grew up with, with the hope that she will develop an understanding and respect of the sea and the life it supports.

i was shocked to find that pretty much all of the cunjevoi has been cut away – it is pretty much extinct. most of the small rockpools were also quite devoid of life as well.

the are far fewer shellfish and sea-urchins as well.

it is a really sad state when people pick these rockpools bare of life – so that they can either eat the sea-snails, cunji and urchins, or when fishermen cut up the cunji to use as bait.

i now have to try to find other places where i may be able to teach my child about life in the sea – it seems that soon, the only place i will be able to do that may be at the aquarium.

shame on all of you who rape the coast and the sea – i am sure that hazardous marine life has not been found around here for many years – judging by the lack of non-hazardous marine life that i saw.

golden fang. who comes up with these names? if anyone know the significance of this name, please let us know. the place seems to be fairly busy all the time – mostly with asian international uni students – which is generally a good sign of being good food at good prices. anyone been there who cares to review it?
