lichtenstein pop-art off alice street, newtown

29.06.11 lichtenstein pop art off alice street, newtown i remember when i was living in this very neighbourhood back in the mid 1990′s and there was quite a bit of this roy lichtenstein pop art inspired style of street art about. i had pretty much forgotten about it until i came across this one today.

i just wonder if it is the same person refreshing their old art, or if someone new has taken the baton.

great to see some refreshed and vibrant colours back on the wall again.

street art near melbourne university

16.06.11 street art near melbourne universityi think this is an absolute cracker and i think that it was posted on an excellent wall.

why it was posted so high and not on street-level, i will never know.

i’d like to see it all the way down on the ground, but hey, that’s just me, i’m not into this levitation thing.

whoever put this one up, thanks. i really like it and am sure that others who see it on this blog will like it too. keep up the top-shelf work!

king jong mentally ill

16.05.11 king jong mentally ill

a nice little piece on kim jong ill.

apparently he is not actually a nutter, he is really quite sane. he is just an egotist and nihalist.

to see what is going on over in north korea, a great resource is dailynk.com – it really gives an insight into what is happening over there. i read it weekly. kim jong ill is a criminal and causes the daily suffering of 24 million koreans.

these people live in such a twisted form of reality. the chinese and south koreans fear that when (not if) the regime collapes, they will be flooded with 24 million under-educated zombies with huge drug problems (yes, they may not have food, but they have plenty of ice).

the sooner the US, UN and EU stop playing games with this monster and cut him off totally from foreign aid and food aid, the sooner this regime will collapse. yes it will be a big problem for south korea and china in the short-term, but it will also be a better long-term solution and expediate the raising of standard and quality of life for all those poor bastards who are trapped in the north.

now, for some light entertainment (from the film ‘team america’):

concrete guerilla art

22.7.09 concrete guerilla art

I have noticed over the past few weeks these things appearing on Oxford Street.

Someone has made these pre-fabs (out of concrete?). There are TV and video remote controls, as well as one Nokia phone. Seems that they have poured the concrete into the mould, buttons and all and have scratched messages into them. The detail is amazing. They have been stuck onto brick walls with liquid nails or something.

One of them, a TV remote, is enscribed with the word “Isolation”. I like it. Here is another.

i also found a concrete computer.

I would love to know if anyone else here has seen these things and if anyone knows who is doing it?

My message to the perp is this – “Thank You!” – I hope the Saturday shoppers get your message.
