warren has spent the last, at least, 4 months doing a remarkable renovation to his block of four flats.
i was standing out on his attic-conversion balcony enjoying the expansive views, tama, bronte and the north maroubra/ lurline bay headlands, but i somehow thought this shot appealed to me more.
it would be a much nicer shot if it was carrying more than my mobile phone.
my greatest apologies to all – the sun has brought out the sentimental old soul in me, so i have been playing a lot of vintage (?) oz rock. here is another – from a time when peter garrett was still in midnight oil and had a credible message. a shame he has become a rock star politician for the federal alp and got so badly shafted by them.
apparently he is not actually a nutter, he is really quite sane. he is just an egotist and nihalist.
to see what is going on over in north korea, a great resource is dailynk.com – it really gives an insight into what is happening over there. i read it weekly. kim jong ill is a criminal and causes the daily suffering of 24 million koreans.
these people live in such a twisted form of reality. the chinese and south koreans fear that when (not if) the regime collapes, they will be flooded with 24 million under-educated zombies with huge drug problems (yes, they may not have food, but they have plenty of ice).
the sooner the US, UN and EU stop playing games with this monster and cut him off totally from foreign aid and food aid, the sooner this regime will collapse. yes it will be a big problem for south korea and china in the short-term, but it will also be a better long-term solution and expediate the raising of standard and quality of life for all those poor bastards who are trapped in the north.
now, for some light entertainment (from the film ‘team america’):
ancient oil refinery going hell for leather in silverwater.
wow, silverwater is suffering an identity crisis. it is home to a whole heap of meriton-style developments, it’s also that little too far from public transport infrastructure.
home to a prison, a whole bunch of toxic refineries, trucking and logistics companies, an old stronghold of manufacturing for the building industry as well as waste processing. It’s also a korean ghetto. loads of korean panel beaters, mechnanics and removalist firms out here. i also believe that one of australias most respected 4×4 magazines has its hq out here as well.
interesting times ahead for silverwater – in a good way. mark my words.
fidel is prone in hospital here, mechanics providing a rising and sinking chest as he is making his death rattles. he is positioned as a point of a pentagram, the other points are life-sized and equally freakish models of lenin, great leader chaiman mao, uncle ho, and great leader kim il-sung.
he’s in great company. very tongue in cheek, the work is called ‘summit’(2010). i like.
perfect place to relax, by rozelle bay. in this shot is the light rail line – something i would love to see extended.
sydney used to have one of the biggest tram services in all the world, second only to london. thanks to the nsw labor party (seems 50 years doesn’t change much as far as public transport strategy for sydney goes) and the nrma, which had a vested interest in forcing more people to drive, the system was wound down during the 1950′s and eventually closed in 1961.
i’m sure more than a few individuals lined their pockets with gold in making this shady deal – to the detriment of a burgeoning population of sydneysiders with a sub-standard provision of public transport infrastructure.
for those of you who don’t know the definition of bogan, here it is – “a term used for a lower class white Australian, similar in meaning to the US term trailer trash”.
i know of another bogan street in sydney, it’s in wahroonga, on the leafy, pretty, sensible and somewhat aloof north shore.
it seems that the sensitive and delicate petals that are the north shore set can’t seem to handle the name of the street that they bought into anymore. seems they also take themselves a little bit too seriously to be a part of the self-deprecating culture of humour that makes so many australians amiable and approachable. (“what will my friends and the ladies who lunch say! the ladies at bridge club don’t take me seriously anymore. we won’t even get a lowly eastern european au paire with an address like that. darling, let’s lobby council to change the name of our street”).
though wahroonga doesn’t really float my boat, there is some architectural history that does set me a-sail. harry seidler built a house for his mum here which has become quite famous – Rose Seidler House. It’s part of the Historic Houses Trust and is a real asset to the neighnbourhood and architecture as a whole. worth a look.
i wonder what the options for renaming bogan street will be – vuitton close, dior crescent, nob drive? time will tell.
i’ve allowed myself to post two things today, because this isn’t technically a photo and i thought it was a bit funny.
while doing a search, i typed “kevin rudd is” into google and look what the suggested queries were… try it for yourself.
i wonder how does “kevin rudd is a fag” rate higher than “kevin rudd is a dud”?
“kevin rudd is a serial killer” comes from a (very poor and un-worldly) tv reporter – Erin Burnett, going on a rant about kev, saying ““He has launched air strikes – air strikes – against camels in the outback.”
also check it out below (mind you with some colourful language and commentary – which is actually pretty spot-on)
i like the bit where she calls the camel industry as “one of their more important exports” – yep, up there with the mining industry.
what can’t be explained is how people as dumb as the two presenters in the link are allowed to be on tv and be allowed to speak. (and this came off a finance channel – CNBC – with dickheads like these two giving financial advice on tv to the masses, it’s no surprise the usa is as financially and forever screwed as it is today). for some balance, you can read a little commentary about this episode in the punch.
does anyone know if google suggestions are made based on the popularity of those specific search terms?
if that is the case, kevin ’07 and his team better look into it, this being an election year and all.
i never personally made the connection that pm kevin rudd is gay, it seems a lot more people apart from myself have come that conclusion – there you go federal ALP – you either need to drop rudd as leader to win the election, or turn him into a gay icon. hey, it has worked for clover moore in the past…
assuming kev will get the boot this year, if you type “kevin rudd is” into google, i wonder if the suggested queries will be: “kevin rudd is” + “an employee of PBC“? let’s see.
