19.12.11 a crippled little alien dude who shows up all around sydney skulk

i first came across this little fella about a month ago in st peters – right next door to tortuga studios.

since then, i have seen this guy pop up in newtown and now in leichardt.

gets around this little monster does -a good thing i think – i reckon he is pretty cool.

i love the weird chook too.

old dog surry hills

22.10.11 old dog surry hills

i was walking down crown street, surry hills when i met this lovely old pooch. he/she is all grew, walks with an arthritic hind-leg limp and had a lovely nature.

i tried taking to it to get its attention, but i am pretty certain the poor old dear is as deaf as a lamp post.

obviously someone else thaought the dog was dead as well, as they have cheekily chalked a very acurate line around the body while the dog was fast asleep. nice one.

a beautiful happy piece of street art in renwick lane, leichhardt

03.07.11 a beautiful happy piece of street art in renwick lane, leichhardt

what a happy, uplifting piece of sydney street art this is.

why did these three tools need to tag over the top of it? i know the answer.

it got tagged over because the taggers have no respect, they could never come up with any art that is near as good as this, so they are jealous and finally, because they are cum-munching little fucks who need a good slap.

mad full-wall bollywood street art in randwick

30.06.11 mad full wall bollywood street art in randwickhow good is this for an idea – in rando of all places! nice to see street art creeping into some unsuspecting neighbourhoods.

a whole wall paying homage to crazy bollywood films. i love the green lady with the blood and eyes rolling back in her head.

let’s just hope that more dull walls in the city and suburbs get some kind of makeover like this.

here is a little bollywood magic for your enjoyment (x 2):

this next one comes from a crucial period in bollywood history. i reckon this film was one which really sat on the fence between indian and western music/dance styles.

it had a huge budget and was shot in some pretty awesome locations around the world, but when indians start to rap and try to be western gangsta homies, it just bombs and is embarrassing to watch.

perhaps bollywood should stick to what it knows – and what no one else in the world can do – singing and dancing extravaganzas – indian style.

lichtenstein pop-art off alice street, newtown

29.06.11 lichtenstein pop art off alice street, newtown i remember when i was living in this very neighbourhood back in the mid 1990′s and there was quite a bit of this roy lichtenstein pop art inspired style of street art about. i had pretty much forgotten about it until i came across this one today.

i just wonder if it is the same person refreshing their old art, or if someone new has taken the baton.

great to see some refreshed and vibrant colours back on the wall again.

ein jilted lover, you don’t need lisa

04.06.11 ein jilted lover, you don’t need lisa
que cosa?
i found this little picture glued to the bottom of a wall in a nondescript lane in dalinghurst. it’s obviously by the same person who made the jilted lover in stamore sign.

what’s the story? does lisa live in stanmore and work the back lanes of darlinghurst or is someone following me trying to tell me something? maybe they are trying to tell my recent-ex something? it boggles the mind – i shall let it go.

this one is right around the corner from a cafe called ten buck alley that makes a great coffee, massive sambos/soups through the week and a pretty bloody good saturday all-day breakfast. go pay them a visit – the owner, jp, is a friendly nutter -  but cares about what your name is, how you like your coffees, how you like your food and always up for a bit of a chat/banter.bring it.

oh lisa, will you break free form your jilted lover.

if anyone know the story, or has found more lisa jilted lover signs around, please let me know!

get me out of here!

18.05.11 get me out of here!

it’s funny, you know.

i have walked past this for years now and even though i am doing this blog, i have never thought to shoot it. i don’t know why..

it is a cracker of a little piece. stating the obvious, but in case you can’t tell, this is a security door by the side of a terrace house in fitzroy st, surry hills – opposite the cricketer’s arms. there is a door behind the security gate and this is painted on the door.

it’s awesome. a little disturbing maybe – and perhaps that’s why i never shot it.

king jong mentally ill

16.05.11 king jong mentally ill

a nice little piece on kim jong ill.

apparently he is not actually a nutter, he is really quite sane. he is just an egotist and nihalist.

to see what is going on over in north korea, a great resource is dailynk.com – it really gives an insight into what is happening over there. i read it weekly. kim jong ill is a criminal and causes the daily suffering of 24 million koreans.

these people live in such a twisted form of reality. the chinese and south koreans fear that when (not if) the regime collapes, they will be flooded with 24 million under-educated zombies with huge drug problems (yes, they may not have food, but they have plenty of ice).

the sooner the US, UN and EU stop playing games with this monster and cut him off totally from foreign aid and food aid, the sooner this regime will collapse. yes it will be a big problem for south korea and china in the short-term, but it will also be a better long-term solution and expediate the raising of standard and quality of life for all those poor bastards who are trapped in the north.

now, for some light entertainment (from the film ‘team america’):

plastic drinking cup art & the great pacific ocean garbage patch

16.12.10 plastic drinking cup art & the great pacific ocean garbage patch

plastic drinks cups stuck into a wire cyclone fence on south dowling street. “et phone up” am pretty sure this is no longer paddington, but is it darlinghurst, or is it surry hills here?

i really love this kind of street art and it reminds me a lot of pixel art.

i’m in a bit of bother however. as much as i am glad the council workers don’t ‘destroy the art’, my concern is that all of this plastic ends up being washed down the drains and into the sea at some point in time – and that is a concern.

certainly you have all by now heard of the pacific ocean garbage patch. click the link if you havn’t. it’s well worth a read.

so then…. garbage or art?

in the jungle, the urban jungle….

27.07.10 in the jungle, the urban jungle….

some people certainly have interesting ideas on adornments for house and garden.

i particularly love how the tiger stands guard over the fallen wilderbeast, snarling at the lion circling the prey.  i can almost hear them roaring now…

the coloured woodchips and central stand of vegetation faithfully recreate the flora, fauna and colours of the african deserts and savannahs.

you can’t buy this stuff for sure. it had to have been created. art i tell you, backyard art.

it has got to be said that, unless you are a wog, and an old wog, you have no chance ever of creating a masterpiece such as this.

oh dear, someone so should have said no to that last creamy cocktail

19.06.10 oh dear, someone so should have said no to that last creamy cocktail

another tragic end to a big night out. i can just imagine what went down in this little fire-escape alcove with all that sugar water, dead cigarettes and various other crap lying around. well the results are there for all to see. i can also see that the victim didn’t really eat that much….

sometimes it can be nice living in the city, but when you live in the playground of the city, the aftermath is never generally pretty.

perhaps i can sell this pic to ‘sprite’ for their next big campaign?

down with prams and designer babies

17.05.10 down with prams and designer babies

there are not many places in sydney that ever were about yuppie life. this bit of social commentary is a little bit late i think. the gentrification of newtown really started kicking off about 15 years ago!

though i too am not a fan of designer babies, i don’t really see the problem with prams. i’m sure whoever wrote this was pushed around in one at some stage.

as for respecting the locals, ‘yuppies’ make up quite a good proportion of locals.

do you not think that it is a bit disrespectful to be scrawling this rubbish on the walls of someones shop? the owner/tenant may well be a local too.

ah, the sweet irony.
